FOUR GOOD DAYS Part 2

I’ve just got home from a very nice and sunny afternoon swim at the beach.. and right before l’m off again, this time for tapas and drinks in town, together with one of James old friends from Sweden, who is visiting Barcelona, I want to show you this post from last week…

The photo is taken right before I had to drag myself to work. It should be forbidden to work when you have visitors from a country as far away as Denmark.

3/ The four of us enjoying the afternoon sun, drinking is an obligatory!
We had Spanish Sangria con vino at one of Barceloneta’s Chiringuitos.

IMG_71364/ One cool looking beach-babe, with her new pendleton cross over shoulder bag bought in Greece (Sine & Jeppe was lucky enough to spend one week in Greece at Jeppe’s family holiday house before they came to visit us in Barcelona).IMG_71375/Dinner at Porvenir. Its a very authentic Gallician restaurant in Carrer de Villarroel, 157 in Barrio L’Eixample. If you are in Barcelona and want to try real authentic gallician and very filling dishes, then you should try Porvenir. They open at 20.30 at night, but the Spanish people don´t arrive before around 22.30h. It is 100% estilo Gallician. Be prepared for mountains of fresh food.

The food is more than good, the staff are authentic and freindly and the price is very reasonable. After dinner they always serve free Baileys or lemon liqueur and they leave the bottle on the table in case you feel like you need more than one drink to rest the food in the stomach 😉IMG_71356/A little dinner photos.

Mmmmm…. Porvenir
Grazas pola comida!  (Gallician version).

FOUR GOOD DAYS Part 1

I had the best four days together with my sweet little sister, her boyfriend and my Bf. James.

But one thing seems a bit strange to me, it maybe a curse or maybe not…. It´s as if when family or friends come to visit me from Denmark the weather changes from being very warm and sunny to cloudy fresh with cold winds. It´s as if the Danish people somehow take the danish weather to whereever they go! (jejeje)

But we still had four days of OK weather at 26-28 degrees.

Tapas Bcn

1/ Segons Mercat de la Barceloneta in Calle Balboa, 16, Barcelona. A really nice local tapas restaurant. In the photo you see the smokey eggplant and goats cheese dish, cold smoked salmon, traditional spanish serano ham and parmasan cheese and gluten-free pan con tomato, yummm!

2/ Sine, James, (beer, cerveza, agua man) and Jeppe. After the dinner we got stuck into a bottle of cava and some tasty mojitos at a beach bar in Port Olimpic.

3/ Me and my sis…. We are happy here and as you can see we look a little tipsy.

4/ A very good Piña Colada!

Brunch

5/ I had the day off on Monday, so we had a nice breakfast on our terrace. I made a very healthy Beetroot smoothie to go with the breakfast. (Try this at home: Mix in the blender: Beetroot, natural Yoghurt, frozen banana, frozen strawberries, ginger, milk and fresh dates).

6/ Romeo and Juliet in front of the fountain at Plaza de Cataluña.

7/ We went to two of the best markets in Barcelona. Mercat de la Concepcio in Calles de Aragón y Valencia & we went to Mercat de la Boqueria, Rambla, 91, just right in the heart of La Rambla.

If you want to see another market, then the old Santa Caterina food market is also worth a visit. It is located at Av. Francesc Cambó, 16.

Santa Caterina market offers a couple of very good restaurants inside where they prepare the food with all the fresh local produce.

8/ Monday Dinner at Restaurant Mordisco, Passatge de la Concepcio, Barcelona. The food was very delicious and tasty but the portions size was ultra small in contrast with the price.

If you are not feeling very hungry and want to try very good food and recieve great service then you should visit Mordisco.

To be continued in Part Two!

SANT JOAN

Sant Joan 11/Fireworks at Barcelonetasant-joan-BARCELONA2/Bonfire at BarcelonetaThe day after sant joan3/The day after Sant Joan

This upcomming Sunday its the Feast of Sant Joan in Barcelona. The celebrations is on the 23 of June each year but the actual feast day is on the 24 of June.

The Feast of Sant Joan celebrates the start of the summer and it is the longest day of the year.

It is one of the most important feast days for the Spanish people and is celebrated throughout Barcelona city. The idea is that on the night of Sant Joan the sun reaches its highest point, before beginning to drop again. For the Spanish people the sun is seen as a symbol of fertility and wealth and so it must be given strength. The strength is provided by bonfires and fireworks lit throughout the city for Sant Joan.

Me and James are going to a Barbecue party with friends. After the BBQ we all are going to Barceloneta Beach to look at all the bonfires, the amazing fireworks and probably also to do a little fireworks ourself.

I’m used to celebrating SanktHans in Denmark the 23rd of June and now that I am “Catalunya” I can’t wait to celebrate Sant Joan.
